This is based on a dream I had as a kid. It started out with a bit where I seemingly woke up in the back of our car as my mom was driving. It was dark out, and my mom was getting tired from driving all night, and asking my older sibling, Gracetopher, to drive for her. Then, I woke up.
For some this creeped me out enough to head downstairs to sleep on the floor next to my parent’s bed. It was large enough that I could’ve fit in there, I had a few times, but they didn’t want to deal with me, so they had me sleep on the floor. This was just to feel safe, you know?
The dream wound up continuing, where in I woke up in the back of the car. Only now it was morning with Gracetopher now driving the car. I had this dream before my older sibling could even drive. I was like 4, so they would’ve been maybe 9? But this could’ve been a bit later when they were 12 and I was 7 or something. I can’t remember exactly. Point was, they weren’t old enough to drive yet.
I think my sister was in the back seat with us in the dream, sitting next to me. I couldn’t tell you which side of the car I was on. Might’ve been our van. I don’t know. But up ahead, I saw that we were driving towards a cliff, and over it were these giant ice cubes rising into the air.
There were cars on some, but not all. Some were empty, still rising though. Plus there were some slowly descending from above. Like these elevators on a loop. No stop. The idea was you’d park your car on an ice cube and then continue your way across the gap when you could. The timing had to be just right though.
We were almost out of time to make it to the cubes this morning, so my older sibling drove off fast, speeding for the edge of the cliff. Only, they missed it.
We all flew out the car, I was out the back, somehow far in the air, while everyone else hovered around the car. I looked around as we fell through the air, the ground below covered in fog, and above were those cubes drifting away.
Then it cut to third person where I splatted into the water below, waking up.
I’ll animate that portion another time. Gotta finish this thing sometime, and I plan to have the interior be live action. Not adapting things 1-1, but having the core idea there, you know. Should be fun.
