You might be wondering what this is. Well essentially, these are some comic page tests I made of Wizards and Robots that act as sort of ideas of what it would look like if it was made in the ’80s as some cartoon, maybe. idk. Like comic pages and cartoon screenshots.
The screenshot things aren’t just 2D images, I was using Blender to produce fake cel layers for them, like how an old cartoon would be painted on cel slides and then put on a background. Then you’d see a bit of the shadow. Plus, nothing is perfectly gray or white or black. Then for anything that creates light, I did some little tricks to mimic how they would’ve pulled off that sort of effect in the past with rear projecting light through film or whatever.
I plan to use this technique for animations, even. Though the cel layer would have a video texture on it instead of an image. Might render out an alpha channel as well for that, unless I can render the actual video with an alpha channel, which would be neat.
Oh yeah, I also did one screenshot as what it would look like as a modern show, approximately. Which would be the art direction I’d go with if I actually got this adapted into a TV show. Lol.
